Lisa Owens, soprano, received her Bachelor of Music from Texas State University and her Master of Music from the University of Texas at San Antonio. In 2010, she was the NATS TEXOMA Regional Winner and national semi-finalist in the Artist’s Awards competition in Salt Lake City. She has performed with the San Antonio Opera, and also performs regularly as a soloist and chorus member with the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers. She is continuing her vocal studies with Linda Poetschke at UTSA.

Piano accompanist Anna Hakobyan, earned her Master’s degree in Piano Performance from Yerevan State Conservatoire, performing as soloist and chamber musician in Armenia, Russia and Portugal. She came to the USA in 2007, settling in San Antonio. Since that time she has worked as staff accompanist at UTSA and has collaborated and performed with Musical Bridges Around the World, Opera Guild of San Antonio, Taos Opera Institute, YOSA and the USAA Choir.

The program will include opera selections by Handel and Mozart, Amor by Strauss, “Choose Eternity” by Granados, a love song by Sandoval, and two selections from the John Carter Cantata.

The Club offers several free programs at the Clubhouse throughout the year--musical performances as well as presentations and discussions on musical topics. The upcoming programs are described on our main web page and appear on the Texas Public Radio Community Events Calendar.

Junior TMC

The Junior Tuesday Musical Club gives young people in grades 1 - 12 an appreciation of the beauty of music and an opportunity to perform for each other on a professional stage. The Juniors' annual competition takes place each February winners perform at the TMC meeting in March.

Young Artists Competition

Since 1956, a Young Artists Competition has been held each spring for serious students of music who reside or study in Texas, with $10,000+ in cash prizes. The competition rotates among three disciplines: piano, voice, and strings. The next competition, for voice, will be held March 15, 2025.
