Geoffrey Waite Recital, Organ

Geoffrey Waite will be presented as guest performer at a regular meeting of the Tuesday Musical Club on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 1:30 in the afternoon.  Club members and their guests will assemble at Laurel Heights United Methodist Church to hear Mr. Waite’s classical program on the church’s newly refurbished organ.  A short meeting will precede the performance.  The program is free, and visitors are welcome.

            Geoffrey Waite serves as Organist/Choir Director for Laurel Heights United Methodist Church.  He has been the pianist for the San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers Chorus and has performed with the San Antonio Symphony, the San Antonio Lyric Opera, the San Antonio Choral Society and the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio.  He also works as a free-lance pianist, has been a part of the professional accompanying staff for The University of Texas at San Antonio, and has shared the recital stage with numerous regionally and nationally known artists.  He is the winner of two ATAC Globe Awards for Musical Direction.

            Mr. Waite received his B.M. in Organ Performance from Westminster College in Pennsylvania and his M.M. in Organ Performance from Syracuse University in New York.  He is a native of New York State and a San Antonio resident for the last 15 years.


Tuesday Musical Club sponsors three outreach programs for the community

Free Programs

The Club offers several free programs at the Clubhouse throughout the year--musical performances as well as presentations and discussions on musical topics. The upcoming programs are described on our main web page and appear on the Texas Public Radio Community Events Calendar.


Junior TMC

The Junior Tuesday Musical Club gives young people in grades 1 - 12 an appreciation of the beauty of music and an opportunity to perform for each other on a professional stage.  The Juniors' annual competition takes place each February winners perform at the TMC meeting in March.

Young Artists Competition

Since 1956, a Young Artists Competition has been held each spring for serious students of music who reside or study in Texas, with $10,000+ in cash prizes. The competition rotates among three disciplines: piano, voice, and strings. The next competition, for voice, will be held March 15, 2025.
